In our post announcing our Healthy Parkinson’s Communities™ initiative, the first goal we outlined was “Ensure Parkinson’s community leaders have the knowledge and resources they need to make a positive and sustainable change in their community.”
Over the past few months, we have started the work to achieve this by sharing a mix of resources, stories, and inspiration from our team and other great organizations. This month, we are excited to announce the Healthy Parkinson’s Communities Getting Started Guide, a special collection of tools and resources that will be available to those joining our Healthy Parkinson’s Communities Network.
This toolkit is designed to be a go-to guide for Community Action Committee (CAC) leaders and members, especially those who might be new to community organizing and systems change. It includes a roadmap along with several tools to help you understand your community, build your network, collect data, and set and achieve goals as you build a healthy Parkinson’s community. In addition to receiving a hard–copy toolkit, communities that join our network will gain access to additional training, networking opportunities, and support.
If you are interested in adding your community to the Healthy Parkinson’s Communities network, download our Getting Started Guide here. This short guide will get you started on your journey, offer recommendations for creating your CAC and ways to conduct initial research and assessments of your community, and prepare you to officially register your community in the Healthy Parkinson’s Communities network.
