Where we live and serve
Our community action committee serves Bloomington, Indiana.
About our CAC
Currently, we have four members including a speech and language pathologist, co-director of the Parkinson’s Wellness Center, a prominent community (Rotary Club) leader, and an Indiana University professor with Parkinson’s. We would like expanded representation from Allied Health professionals, the Cook pharmaceutical company, the Bloomington Community Foundation, and more.
Our “Why?”
Currently, our community experiences a lack of…
- Education and understanding of Parkinson’s
- Designated central location for Parkinson’s support, education, resources, exercises, wellness, and hope
- Resources for people with Parkinson’s
- Collaboration with community leaders to invest, be inspired, become passionate, and support Parkinson’s.
- trained clinical professionals to correctly diagnose Parkinson’s and treat it appropriately.
People with Parkinson’s feel alone and don’t know how or where to get the support they need.
Our Healthy Parkinson’s Community Vision
Our community aims to:
- Raise a huge awareness of Parkinson’s in our area
- Increase support, resources, and education for people living with Parkinson’s in our area
- Raise enough money to have a dedicated space for those with Parkinson’s to call their own, along with programs and classes
- Solve our issues and barriers so we can move forward quickly and serve our local population of people with Parkinson’s
