Hornsby, NSW, Australia

Where we live and serve

The Hornsby, New South Wales, Australia community action committee is in northern Sydney – Australia’s largest city.

About our CAC

Our community has a vibrant 90-member support group with complementary programming, including special exercise and choir programs. The group meets regularly and stays informed about Parkinson’s treatments and research. We aim to develop close ties with local hospitals and our local representatives, both at a State and Federal level.

Our “Why?”

Currently, our community experiences a lack of…

  • General awareness of Parkinson’s and there are a limited number of Parkinson’s specialists and trained medical professionals
  • Accessible programs and services for those who are not on private health insurance
  • National support for Parkinson’s is slow to roll out and waiting periods impact access

Our Healthy Parkinson’s Community Vision

  • Increase awareness and access to Parkinson’s programs and services
  • Increase public awareness of Parkinson’s
  • Collaborate with local, State and Federal Governments for our members and develop closer ties with local Health Professionals
  • Work toward health equity to eliminate health inequities of race and ethnicity
