Our Hispanic Community Engagement initiative is focused on collaboration, community leadership, and cultural sensitivity to ensure Hispanic people living with Parkinson’s and their families have access to resources needed to live well with Parkinson’s. Meet Claudia Martinez, MD – Hispanic Community Engagement Manager
Claudia comes to the Davis Phinney Foundation staff after 10 years of working with underserved communities as a primary care physician, being her father’s primary care partner during his years with Parkinson’s, and working for 15 years as the head of the Hispanic Outreach Program at the Muhammad Ali Parkinson Center. There, she developed a comprehensive and culturally sensitive program for Hispanics living with Parkinson’s and their families that is currently considered the largest in the country.

In our years working with community leaders, educators, advocates, mentors, and more, we have learned that most people come to us knowing one thing for sure: They want to create change to help people live well with Parkinson’s.
We have developed our current application process which includes a simple form (linked below) as well as what we call our “Community Superpowers Quiz” to help us learn more about the wealth of passion and innate strengths you bring to this work.
